Where do you write?

Today I went on a mini adventure to Detroit, with Nick W. because he needed to do some work there for his Sr. Project which is coming to an end (god willing) this Friday. Nick bargained with me that for breakfast burritos from Mc'Donald's, Starbucks Coffee, and a stop at Pizza Papalice before we left, I would go on this mini-adventure-road-trip starting at 6:30 in the morning. I know--it's incredible early but he had me at breakfast burritos. When we arrived promptly at 9am, I was dropped off at a ridiculously large Barnes and Nobel that had...a used book section? wtf..since when? Anyway, after prowling the many many stacks of books I nestled on down, busted out my netbook and began to write. I kind of liked the change of scenery. Lately I've gotten into the habit of waking up, working out, and then writing in my room. But this was kind of nice. So I wonder...do any of you write anywhere different? Maybe Virgina Woolf is wrong and you don't just need a room of your own to write a novel. What do you think?

  1. That's a good point. Sometimes a change of scenery can lead to a burst of unexpected genius. I usually do my writing in the apartment... different rooms depending on the day or the time of day. I really should try venturing out of the house one day and writing somewhere new. Maybe that will finally convince me to get my butt moving!
